My inspiration comes from the places that have shaped me, Toronto and Tripoli, my values rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, and the little things that make life beautiful: nature, thoughtful design, skincare, cute abayas, a good matcha, and the joy of exploring new places. Above all, I’m inspired by the beauty of new beginnings, the courage to start over, and the messy, meaningful journey of creating a life and work with purpose.

My educational background is in Multimedia Technology and recently I have completed a Master’s in Language & Literacy Education from the University of Toronto, where I was also an SSHRC award recipient. My slightly unconventional path through education, research, writing, translation and design became my advantage. I understand how to make things look good, sound right and mean something.

MY STORY

Built through struggle, creativity and a lot of faith. Afiyah Co grew during a season of rebuilding my own life. Between getting divorced, single motherhood, moving back and forth between Libya and Canada, career changes and learning to begin over again and again, my priorities shifted. I became more intentional about the kind of life , and work;  I wanted to create. Learning Qur’an brought peace and perspective into that journey and helped shape the values behind Afiyah Co:

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES FUSION

English teacher by day. Designer by night. Storyteller in between. My background brings together language, research, business thinking, design and technology. I’ve worked across branding, visual identity, web design and UI/UX alongside writing, translation and digital storytelling.

My Creative toolkit includes: Figma , Framer , WordPress , Elementor , Divi , Adobe ( Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premier) , Shopify, Woo commerce, Canva, Capcut/Davinci,Procreate With additional experience in: HTML · CSS · JavaScript . Php, Google Analytics,SEO Tools, and Notion.

I also work with a range of writing, research, content management and digital publishing tools to bring ideas from concept to completion.Additional skills include SEO, social media management, content strategy, copywriting, content creation, brand strategy, digital marketing, responsive web design, web accessibility, CMS management, UX research, and analytics and optimisation.

WHAT MATTERS

Purpose over noise. Barakah over numbers. Financial freedom matters ; but money is not the only thing driving Afiyah Co. I want to work with like-minded founders, businesses and brands creating something worthwhile while staying aligned with my values and Islamic boundaries. I want to build beautiful things without compromising what matters most to me.

My three boys are my biggest supporters, toughest critics, and quite possibly the reason Afiyah Co took a little longer than planned to come to life.
